A former Inverell athlete has been selected to compete in the World Junior Sanda Championships in Brunei this September.
16-year-old Mia Szumowski has been selected to represent Australia in the 3-person team and is the only female athlete amongst the trio.
Mia started her martial arts journey at Nick King’s Lifestyle Centre at the age of 2 and fell in love with the sport and is honoured and excited to take part in this competition as it will be her international debut.
Now living in Port Macquarie, Mia says this prestigious event, featuring Chinese free-fighting similar to kickboxing, is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for her and is currently looking for local support to help her achieve her dreams.
More details including where to show support will be made available on Mia Szumowski’s Facebook page.
