Firearms Seized from Inverell Home

by | Oct 7, 2025 | Police News | 0 comments

Inverell Police are reminding firearm permit holders to ensure their firearms are safely stored after a 49-year-old had his weapons seized by police last Thursday.

Police conducted a safe storage inspection at a residence in the Inverell township which resulted in all of his firearms being seized and a suspension of his firearms permit due to noncompliance with safe storage obligations under the Firearms Act.

The breaches relate to a firearms safe being poorly secured and fastened, in contravention of requirements and guidelines mandated by the NSW Police Force Firearms Registry.

Inverell Police Inspector Blake Keating says this is yet another timely warning to firearms permit holders in the area to get it right or they will take your guns, adding in some cases, police will put people before the court and/or make application for their permits to be permanently revoked.

Inspector Keating says any person convicted of a safe storage offences will see their firearms forfeited to the crown upon conviction.
