by | Nov 3, 2025 | Police News | 0 comments

Inverell police have issued a warning to anyone wishing to deliberately light fires in town following an incident last week.

Police responded to a small grass fire at an empty block in Buxton Street, Inverell just after 5pm last Monday with police and Inverell Fire and Rescue NSW attending the scene a short time later to extinguish the fire.

Police say no one was seen lighting the fire; however, two youths were seen in the vicinity.

Anyone with information regarding the identity of person’s deliberately lighting fires should contact Crime Stoppers with Inspector with Inverell Police Blake Keating stressing action will be taken including fines and court attendance notices issued to anyone found guilty of deliberately lighting fires.
