Fire Permits Suspended for Northern Tablelands

by | Nov 7, 2024 | Community, Rural, Weather | 0 comments

The Northern Tablelands team of the NSW Rural Fire Service have suspended fire permits until midnight tonight.

The suspension, which took place at 12am this morning, comes as a high fire danger rating has been put in place, brought on by the recent rise in temperature, leaving conditions dry and prone to fire.

The high fire danger rating is expected to continue through to Saturday, with a review on the suspension of fire permits to be announced later today.

Meanwhile, a fire has broken out just south of Tenterfield overnight with crews on scene to tackle the blaze. The fire has so far burned through 18ha of land, and though no property has been reported as damaged and the alert level is at advice only, residents are urged to take the necessary precautions and be fire ready, as well as monitor conditions by checking the Hazards near me app or by heading to the NSW Rural Fire website.
