With warmer than average temperatures being experienced at the start of the spring season, residents are being reminded to observe Fire Danger Ratings and to ensure Fire Safety Permits are acquired before any burning takes place within Local Government Areas.
Fire Safety Permits are a requirement for burning activities during the Bush Fire Danger Period in Rural Fire Districts, and at all times in the Fire and Rescue districts around the state, with fines of up to $5000 and 12 months imprisonment being enforced if processes are not followed.
As well as acquiring permits in person from a nominated Rural Fire Service outlet, Permits can now also be accessed online with residents able to apply via the RFS website.
More information including application process can be found by heading to the RFS website or by calling 6771 7700 between 8.30am and 4.30pm Monday to Friday.
