A man has died following a single-vehicle crash in the State’s west yesterday afternoon.
About 4.30pm on Tuesday (3 February 2026), emergency services were called to South Valley Road, Ashford, about 30km north of Inverell, following reports a vehicle (Mitsubishi Pajero) had left the road and crashed.
The passenger – a man believed to be in his 60s – was assessed by NSW Ambulance paramedics; however, died at the scene.
He is yet to be formally identified, and a report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
The driver – a 68 year-old man – was assessed by NSW Ambulance paramedics for serious injuries before being airlifted to hospital in a critical condition.
Officers attached New England Police District established a crime scene and the Crash Investigation Unit commenced an investigation into the crash.
