Good progress was made yesterday to restore power to over 9,000 customers in the past 24 hours across the Mid North Coast and New England regions.
As of 5pm yesterday, there are just around 11,700 homes and businesses without power with the areas around Armidale, Walcha, Guyra, Southwest Rocks, and Kempsey most heavily impacted.
Essential Energy states the restoration of power will be slow due to the amount of clearing and repair work required to get connections reestablished with customers needing to be prepared to be without power for an extended period, possibly several days in some of the areas where access remains an issue and where there is a lot of damage.
Additional crews have arrived in the regions and have been assisting with the rebuilding of areas of the network damaged by the storms while vegetation teams have been busy throughout yesterday clearing trees and debris off the network to enable further restoration to proceed.
