Farmers and rural landowners across New South Wales are reporting sightings of drones flying over private properties, including livestock paddocks, machinery sheds, and crop fields.
NSW Police’s Rural Crime Prevention Team is calling on the public’s help to report any suspicious drone activity in rural areas as these drones may pose biosecurity risks, disturb livestock, or infringe on privacy.
Residents are asked if the see a drone, record the time, location, and description of the drone, take photos or videos if safe to do so and report the incident to the Civil Aviation Safety Authority if drone is being operated unsafely and NSW Police if you suspect criminal activity.
Anyone who’s seen a drone flying over a rural property or have information about suspicious drone activity, are asked to come forward as it could help protect livestock, crops, and rural livelihoods whilst drone users are asked if they’re using a drone in a rural area or near a rural industry, please consider letting people and properties nearby know that you are doing so and why as it may help allay fears.
