Drivers Refused Bail After Separate Police Pursuits in Moree

A 20-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman have pleaded guilty after fronting Inverell Local Court on Friday following separate police pursuits in Moree on Thursday.

The 19-year-old was involved in a police pursuit in a Toyota Aurion which failed to stop, resulting in a pursuit with the sedan crashing into another parked car in Jacaranda Drive with the pursuit ending shortly after in Teak Place.

The woman was arrested and charged with several offences including the police pursuit, speeding, negligent driving, unlicenced driver and destroy or damage property.

The 20-year-old man was involved in a pursuit in a Holden Commodore utility on Gwydir Highway at Moree, after receiving complaints about the manner of driving with the pursuit ending when the driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the front of a marked police vehicle, causing damage to the front bumper.

Officers arrested the male driver, who is also resisted arrest and kicked an officer in the stomach, failed to pay for fuel at a service station at Moree and not paid for the purchase of the ute from Biniguy earlier in the day.

Both were refused bail and will be sentenced on the 20th March at Inverell.
