A former Inverell High school student has graduated as a doctor and in doing so paid tribute to a former teacher at the school.
Mikeely Kent singled out Cath Jeffery who she says played a pivotal role in her pathway adding it was Mrs Jeffery who encouraged her to pursue medicine.
Mikeely credits the supportive teaching staff at Inverell High School for helping her reach the results needed for medicine, noting that teachers provided additional exam papers, feedback and encouragement throughout her senior years.
Last week she officially graduated with the Dean of Medicine Award for Academic Excellence and now will head to Dubbo for the next two years to complete her internship, with the goal of becoming a Rural Generalist with an Advanced Skill in Emergency Medicine.
