Cybercrime Still On the Rise

by | Oct 14, 2024 | Crime, Community | 0 comments

Cybercriminals are becoming more sophisticated, using slick and professional tactics to trick people into handing over valuable information, making scams harder than ever to detect.

According to National Anti-Scam Centre, Australians reported losses of over $2.74 billion to scams in 2023, and though while the threat of scams isn’t new, Telstra’s latest research in partnership with YouGov reveals the fear of cyber threats are driving Aussies to rethink how they use their smartphones.

Telstra Executive Jana Kotatko advises Aussies to stay vigilant from Cyber scams by making sure they shop at verified sites and if they come across a text or sudden phone call asking for personal information to simply block the text or hang up from the phone call.
