The future of the Bukkulla Fire Station is up in the air as it continues to suffer a shortage of volunteer fire fighters.
Scott Mack from the NSW RFS Northern Tablelands Team says it has reached crunch time for the station which has struggled to attract volunteer fire fighters for years adding if they don’t recruit 5 or 6 volunteers, the station will close, permanently.
Mr Mack says a public meeting will be held at 11am on the August 2nd at the Bukkulla station which will hopefully identify potential volunteers to man the station and keep it alive.
He says the station is currently closed due to no available volunteers at the moment, which is concerning if a fire does break out in the district.
