Inverell Shire Council will discuss at tomorrow’s final Council Meeting of the year whether to sponsor the Swimming NSW Country Regional Meet in January at the new Inverell Aquatic Centre in 2026.
The two-day event is scheduled to be held on Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 January 2026 at the new Inverell Aquatic Centre and set to deliver 360 competitors and 40 officials with 85% of participants coming from outside the Inverell Shire LGA
In it’s December Business Paper, Inverell Shire Council says the proposed cost to council is $11,176 but the direct impact of the event into the local economy would be $593,685.
In the Business Paper, it states Council has historically funded sports tourism events from Council’s Tourism Industry promotion budget and has available funding of $73,431.
A decision will be made at tomorrow’s Council meeting
