Inverell Shire Council has resolved to agree in principle to transfer the current management function for Inverell Homes for the Aged to BEST Employment Ltd.
The Homes for the Aged Committee Inverell was established in 1951 and sought to provide low-cost independent living accommodation for aged persons in MacIntyre St who are unable to afford home ownership or market level rental accommodation.
Chairman of the Homes for the Aged Committee Inverell, George Kirk initiated discussions with Council in March last year regarding succession planning for the future management of the facility.
Shire Mayor Kate Dight praised the Gloria and George Kirk for their dedication to the cause.
