Chaffey Hits The Road Ahead of Federal Election

by | Aug 8, 2024 | Politics | 0 comments

Nationals’ candidate for the Federal Seat of Parkes Jamie Chaffey has commenced his election campaign despite no date being set for the poll.

Mr Chaffey says he will target the issues of nuclear power and measures to tackle youth crime and domestic violence if he’s elected the new member for Parkes.

The Northern daily Leader reports Mr Chaffey spoke to the media in Dubbo on Wednesday and says he’s hitting the campaign trail as early as he can, as he knows he has a lot of ground to cover.

He says he will be out there listening to everybody in all 20 local government areas because he certainly doesn’t want to see the National Party lose this seat they’ve held it for 40 years.

Mr Chaffey has been mayor of Gunnedah since 2016 and has chaired the Country Mayors Association of NSW since 2022 and will be looking to take over the role from current member Mark Coulton who announced in March that he would retire from politics at the next election.
