The Federal Seat of New England will have five candidates to choose from at this stage following the announcement on Friday that Australians will go to the polls on Saturday May 3rd.
The Nationals Incumbent MP Barnaby Joyce will go head-to-head with Labour candidate Laura Hughes, One Nation’s Brent Larkham, The Greens Wendy Wales and Independent Natasha Ledger.
In an item in the Northern Daily Leader, Ms Hughes will highlight regional healthcare as one of her campaign’s main priorities, Ms Ledger will stand up against nuclear power, Mr Larkham will advocate about youth crime, Ms Wales campaign on environmental issues and climate while Mr Joyce will focus on his opposition to renewable energy projects.
The federal seat of New England was expanded last September by the Australian Electoral Commission to incorporate Muswellbrook in the south and Gwydir in the north of the electorate.
