Bingara residents are urged to use caution as an outbreak of Calicivirus is currently affecting the area.

Gwydir Shire Council have advised residents that they have received several reports of wild rabbit fatalities in the township and that the casualties are not a result of baiting but rather they contracted the Calicivirus.

Pet owners are encouraged to vaccinate domestic rabbits against the virus and avoid contact with other rabbits outside the household.
