Former Inverell Highlanders Women’s player Rhiannon Byers has missed out on an NRL Women’s premiership with the Cronulla Sharks, going down narrowly 32-28 against the Sydney Roosters at Accor stadium on Sunday
After trailing 24-0 at halftime, Byer’s Cronulla Sharks mounted an almighty comeback scoring 5 tries to get back into the game before time ran out.
The second rower played 10 games for the Sharks this season and scored a try against St George-Illawarra Dragons in August when wearing her beloved indigenous jersey.
Byers, who hails from Pallamallawa, says they didn’t have much ball in the first half but knew they could turn it around in the second half adding to lose by only a try was truly incredible.
