With the Bushfire Season now in full swing, the Northern Tablelands Team for the NSW Rural Fire Service have advised residents to ensure their Bushfire Survival Plans are up to date.
Northern Tablelands Superintendent Scott Mack says making or updating bushfire survival plans and having a conversation with family or households was now critical, to ensure everyone knows what they will do and where they will go if fire threatens.
According to Superintendent Mack, research has shown more than 70 per cent of people living in bush fire prone areas have some sort of plan for what to do during a fire, which is great, however now is the time to also act and physically prepare their property as well, adding that by doing simple things like cleaning gutters, removing combustibles from the yard, and ensuring hoses can reach all corners of your property can make a significant difference.
Landholders and Residents now need to apply for a Fire Permit which can be obtained by calling the Local Fire Control Centre, with more information available by heading to the NSW RFS website.
