The official Bush Fire Danger Period has been extended for Gwydir Shire Local Government Area.
Gwydir Shire joins Moree Plains and Narrabri to extend their Bushfire Danger period to the 30th of April with fire permits still required for any burning activities.
Superintendent Scott Mack says the extension reflects the ongoing fire risks in local areas adding it’s important the community continues to follow all requirements.
Superintendent Mack says before lighting any fire, residents are reminded to ensure they have an appropriate permit, check weather conditions, notify neighbours and local authorities at least 24 hours prior to a burn, and have sufficient resources on hand to manage a burn safely.
