St Mary of the Angels Catholic Church at Bundarra has been sold for well above the Reserve Price for $331,000
The property went under the hammer earlier this month after the Parish of Inverell deemed it financially impossible to maintain as thy didn’t have the income to keep it.
Sean Taylor from L.J Hooker Inverell says the buyers are relocating from the Sunshine Coast and have family in Inverell adding they will renovate the church and Presbytery into residences.
Mr Taylor says they had interest from all over Australia and had 5 registered bidders on the day
Prior to the sale, Parish Priest Father Paul Chandler said Bundarra had been in decline since its heyday when there were many farms and families both within the town as well as in the surrounding district adding it’s sad to witness both the decline of the town and of the Church’s congregation
