Bonshaw Water Restrictions

by | Dec 19, 2024 | Environment, Local Government | 0 comments

Bonshaw residents were advised earlier this month that water restrictions in the area were lifted, however they are not in the clear just yet.

Inverell Shire Council implemented water restrictions for the Bonshaw Raw Water Supply on November 15th this year due to considerable strain being placed on the supply bore as a result of a 10hr power outage causing the supply bore to become offline leading to the local reservoir to drop at a very low level.

After 2 weeks of limited use by residents, the water level in the reservoir rose to satisfactory levels, allowing restrictions to be lifted from the 4th December, however council have urged residents to continue to use water sparingly for the following 2 weeks to determine if restrictions need to be implemented again prior to the Christmas period.

Inverell Shire Mayor Kate Dight says council are investigating ways of increasing water supply for the area.
