Bingara Central School P & C Association is one of 70 recipients to have received money through the 2025 Veteran Community Grants Program, receiving almost $1500 for its Living Memorial that remembers the fallen local veterans.
Through the planting of orange trees, the project aims to establish a living memorial that honours the contributions and sacrifices of Australian veterans, while also connecting to the unique character and heritage of the local area.
An official opening of the garden will be held after the annual Orange Picking in Term 2, this year with the entire school and wider community, including local veterans, invited to attend and celebrate this new space together.
Formerly known as the Anzac Community Grants Program, the 2025 round of the Veteran Community Grants Program was the first delivered under a refreshed program design with more emphasis on funding projects that enhance veteran wellbeing, support recognition of the veteran community and events that acknowledge significant military anniversaries.
