The Inverell Community Violence Prevention Team is inviting the community to join them for the annual Street March Against Violence & 16 Days of Activism Activities tomorrow.
Community members will gather in Victoria Park on Vivian St at 9:45am for a 10am departure with the march, to be escorted by police, down Vivian St, onto Byron St, down Otho St, and back to Victoria Park via Rivers St with these streets temporarily closed to traffic while the march is in progress.
The march will be followed by a free BBQ, guests speakers, service providers stalls and displays and self-defence demonstrations in Victoria park.
Prevention Team chair Emma Waters asked motorists for patience during the March.
The 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence is an annual international campaign that runs from 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, and runs until 10 December, Human Rights Day.
