The Gwydir Hwy was closed for several hours after a single vehicle accident yesterday afternoon on the outskirts of Inverell.
A single vehicle driven by a 70-year-old female drove into a power pole located in between Vernon and Bertha Streets Inverell just before 2pm
Police, Fire & Rescue NSW and Energy Essential attended the scene with road diversions set up during the afternoon.
With the power pole presenting risks of live wires being exposed and the complications presented with the need for a crane to stabilise and conduct maintenance on the power pole, delays of up to 5 hours were experienced.
The 70-year-old remained at Inverell Hospital yesterday evening for routine scans with nil injuries of note with fatigue being a suspected factor.
