It promised to be one of the most memorable days in Inverell Hawks history and Anzac Day’s coming together of former players lived up to expectations.
A huge crowd turned out at Varley Oval on Friday to honour the premiership-winning 1975 Swans team, of which eight members returned for the day and others were represented by family and friends.
Captain-coach Reg McCulla could not return because of a family illness, but his photograph appeared on the large screen as he commended his teammates for their performance to win the Grand Final.
Members of the Hawks 2000 and 2015 premiership winning sides formed a guard of honour as the players were presented to the crowd, and the traditional Anzac Day service was then conducted.
