Inverell Shire Council has resolved to allocate $332,244 from its Special Projects Roads Infrastructure funding for 2024/2025, directing the investment toward gravel resheeting and drainage maintenance on Eastern Feeder Road
Since September 2017, Council has received additional income from separate land valuations of wind turbine sites, which has been consistently reinvested into road asset renewal and maintenance.
In previous years, Council has funded upgrades and resheeting works on Kings Plains Road, roads in the Maybole area, Woodstock and Waterloo Roads, Jones Road, and Western Feeder Road.
For 2024/2025, Council identified Eastern Feeder Road as a priority, acknowledging ongoing concerns from local residents regarding poor drainage, water saturation, and inadequate gravel surface.
The approved funding will facilitate full resheeting of the unsealed 9.23km section, ensuring better road conditions and enhanced durability.
Council has opted to source gravel from Mathers Pit on Poolbrook Road, Nullamanna, a proven material that previously delivered successful results on Western Feeder Road.
Council will progress toward the works, scheduled to commence on Monday 7th July.
