Inverell ratepayers will endure another rate rise after Inverell Shire councillors agreed to take the recommended IPART 4% rate peg at yesterday’s council meeting.
Inverell Shire Kate Dight says Councillors endorsed a whole suite of documents during yesterday Council meeting including it’s Operational Plan and Budget.
Mayor Dight sympathised for rate payers considering the cost-of-living crisis being experienced at the moment, but stressed Council need to be prudent in dealing with the rising costs of delivering services as well as the cost shifting by the state government to local government.
She says Council is in a good financial position and isn’t asking for a special rate variation like other Councils because of the diligent work done by council staff.
