Inverell Shire Council is set to re-establish its Alcohol-Free Zones over the streets and laneways within the shire until June 2029 at this week’s monthly Council meeting.
There are several alcohol-free zones in Inverell, Ashford and Tingha with Council to also consider whether more streets or areas will be included to these zones.
The alcohol-free zones help to assist and support the local Police in the prevention of anti-social behaviour and street crime.
Council state in its Business Papers, the re-establishment of the Alcohol Free Zones has the full support of the Police as well as the Inverell & District Liquor Consultative Committee.
