Tingha Knock Over Premiers in Opening Round

by | Apr 7, 2025 | Sport | 0 comments

Tingha Tigers have kicked off their season with an enthralling 42-32 victory over reigning premier Warialda Wombats on Saturday in Round 1 action of the Group 19 Rugby League competition to retain the Cleal-Blacklock Shield.

After a barnstorming start where the Tigers got out to an 18-0 lead, Warialda raced back into the contest to lead 20-18 at halftime.

In a tight second half, the Tigers again got a way with a lead and held on to score a tough victory.

Uralla Tigers inflicted the Inverell Hawks with a 40-26 loss in a game that yielded 13 tries at Uralla Sporting Complex

Uralla scored 7 tries to 6 with the home team able to covert 6 from 7 goals while the Hawks managed only 1 try conversion.

Hawks coach Jamie McCormack says they had plenty of chances to score but poor discipline and ball control hurt his side

Meantime, Glen Innes Magpies made a winning return to the fold, demolishing the Walcha Roos 68 – 6 while the Narwan and Moree Boomerangs game was postponed to a date to be decided due to wet conditions.
