Glen Innes Town Centre Beautification Project Taking Shape

by | Feb 26, 2025 | Local Government, Media Release | 0 comments

The Glen Innes Town Centre Beautification Project, supported by $872,429 from the Federal Government’s Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program (LRCI), is well underway, with the project already bringing new life to the Glen Innes town centre.

The Parks and Gardens Team has been busy enhancing the greenery at the roundabouts, adding vibrant plants and flowers that are bringing a fresh burst of colour to the area. Work on the existing garden beds is ongoing, creating a more inviting and beautiful space for everyone to enjoy.

Council is also upgrading street furniture throughout the town centre, including the installation of new bins, seating, planter boxes and bollards. The bollards were successfully installed in the town square over the weekend.

We’d like to reassure the community that the 3.75-metre spacing between the spheres well exceeds Australian Standard requirements and has been positioned to ensure traffic in this area remains at the signposted 10km/h speed limit. This is the same alignment and trafficable width provided by the previous bollard arrangement.

To complement these upgrades, the town square has been given a fresh look with new restamping, enhancing its appearance and durability.

We are excited to see the transformation taking shape and look forward to bringing more improvements as the project progresses.

We will continue to manage traffic flow throughout the project and will keep the community informed of any upcoming road closures or traffic changes.
