Temperatures Set to Soar in the Region

by | Jan 21, 2025 | Weather | 0 comments

The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a heatwave warning for the Northern Tablelands and Northwest slopes and plains for this week.

Severe heatwave conditions are expected to build over northeast parts of the state this week before easing later in the week and over the weekend with a milder southerly change.

Maximum temperatures in the high twenties to high thirties, increasing into the low forties over the Northwest Slopes and Plains are expected from tomorrow while overnight minimum temperatures are forecast in the low to high teens, increasing to the low to mid-twenties over the Northwest Slopes and Plains from tomorrow.

The Bureau state severe heatwaves can be dangerous for many people, especially older people, babies, children, pregnant and breastfeeding women, people with medical conditions and people who are unwell and advise them to seek a place to keep cool, such as their home, a library, community centre or shopping centre and close windows and draw blinds, curtains or awnings early in the day to keep the heat out of your home and if available, use fans or air-conditioners to keep cool.
