Member for Northern Tablelands Brendan Moylan has expressed his disappointment over the permanent closure of the Armidale Urgent Care clinic.
NSW Health Minister Ryan Park announced the termination of the clinic due to staff shortages after just 5 months of operation, with the clinic opening in June 2024 to address injuries and illnesses deemed urgent but not life-threatening.
However, the clinic was temporarily shut in August due to the unavailability of General Practitioners, with Mr Moylan saying the termination of the Armidale Urgent Care Clinic is another blight on the ongoing saga that is health services in regional NSW.
Mr Moylan says the failure to attract medical professionals to a large centre like Armidale signals a dire outlook for other parts of the region including Inverell, and believes collaborative action from both the Federal and State governments is what’s needed to ensure GPs are available in the district.
