Northern Tablelands MP Brendan Moylan has called on NSW Premier Chris Minns to address rural crime in the region following a massive increase in crime in the past week.
Mr Moylan says reports of various crimes have been reported in Moree, Inverell, Uralla and Glen Innes from car theft to break-ins at businesses and 12-year-olds with knives.
Speaking on STA FM this morning, Mr Moylan called for the government to seriously consider the current laws surrounding children and criminal intent and called for the government take the onus off the police and place it on the defendant in proving their innocence.
The local MP says the increase in crime in the region is really troubling and worrying and the government need to do more to get more police to serve the area.
