The STA FM Christmas Toy Drive in conjunction with the Inverell Community Sewing for Charity has once again kicked off with the community urged to dig deep for the cause.
The public are being encouraged to donate an item that can be distributed to those in need this Christmas
Lorraine Brown from Inverell Community Sewing for Charity says last year, a total of 654 gifts were donated, plus hampers which included 370 children’s gifts, 55 teens & special needs gifts, 9 patient emergency services donations, 178 adult gifts, 40 gifts to Rural Outreach, 10 toiletry hampers, 40 elderly food hampers and 20 family size hampers.
Mr Brown says families are doing it tough this year and they’re hoping the drive can help them out.
Items for teenagers including footballs and basketball would be greatly appreciated as well as items for the elderly who some time miss out on receiving gifts at Christmas.
Items can be dropped off at STA FM during business hours 9am to 12noon
