by | Sep 18, 2024 | Uncategorized | 0 comments

Counting continues for the Inverell Shire Council Local Government elections with three candidates exceeding the quota to be elected onto the next Council.

Paul Harmon, Kate Dight and newcomer Greg Kachel look certain to be elected but will not be declared officially until all votes are counted and the poll declared in the coming weeks

Currently staff are going back and checking the counting at all booths and so far Delungra, Gilgai, Tingha and Yetman have been cross checked.

As of last night, Mr HARMON has to date attracted 1975, KATE DIGHT 1716, GREG KACHEL 1613 with a gap to JO WILLIAMS 820, PAUL KING 796, IAN HOOKER 711, WENDY WILKS 533, FIONA BROWN 476, KELVIN BROWN 388, GRAEM MURRAY 274, JACKO ROSS 249.

In outlying towns in the Shire, Ms Dight has dominated the count in Ashford and Yetman, Greg Kachel has topped polls at Delungra and Gilgai while Paul Harmon has received 53 first preferences at Tingha.

Postal votes have to be received by September 28, and only then can polling officials begin the distribution of preferences.
