Local Govt Elections Conclude for Another Term

by | Sep 16, 2024 | Community, Politics | 0 comments

With Local Government Elections now coming to a close, 3 candidates have secured wins fulfilling their quota with 2 returning to the role of councillor as well as a new candidate fulfilling the position.

Paul Harmon and Kate Dight have emerged as clear winners from the weekend’s polls, with Mr Harmon receiving 1964 votes so far counted and Ms Dight managing to garner 1707 votes, with new candidate and former local radio personality Greg Kachel receiving 1597 votes, almost double that of the next highest voted candidate, Jo Williams.

Candidates Graeme Murray and Kelvin Brown have so far received the lowest votes and will likely not progress any further.

A second count will get underway from today with a 3rd count to determine final councillor positions followed by a vote for the position of Mayor shortly after.
