A man has been charged with a number of drug and firearm offences in the Inverell last night.
At about 7:15pm yesterday, police attached to New England Police District observed a man on Otho Street, waving what appeared to be a black coloured revolver, with officers securing the Police Station and calling for assistance.
The 52-year-old man was arrested a short time later and taken to Inverell Police Station. A search of his bag allegedly located a black gel-blaster and a bag containing a prohibited drug.
He was charged with possession of weapon to resist arrest, possess unauthorised firearm in public place, intimidate police officer and possess prohibited drug.
He was refused bail to appear before Inverell Local Court later today.
