A man has faced Inverell Local court following a pursuit in Moree on Wednesday morning.

Just prior to midday, officers attached to New England Police District were patrolling the Newell Highway, when they attempted to stop a gold Nissan X-trail.

When it failed to stop, a pursuit was initiated with the vehicle hitting a fence on Billa Street shortly after.

The driver exited the car and fled on foot before police commenced a foot pursuit, arresting the man shortly after.

The 24-year-old man was taken to Moree Police Station and charged with police pursuit – not stop – drive at speed, drive motor vehicle during disqualification period, drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous, and enter enclosed land not prescribed premises without lawful excuse.

The man was also charged with thirteen unrelated domestic violence-related offences.
