In an astonishing result, the Inverell Hawks Men’s team have secured a place in the finals after defeating Narwan Eels in Group 19 action yesterday.
It was an edge=of-the-seat game with the Hawks leading the first half 26-12, before the Eels passed them midway through the 2nd half 28-26, until the Hawks found an extra gear to bounce back claiming the win 48-34, the victory now qualifying the Hawks to meet the Bingara Bullets next week to determine who will take out the minor semi-finals.
In the other men’s games, Tingha Tigers gave the Moree Boomerangs a serve posting a comfortable 42-22 win, while the Wombats just managed to fend of the Rams in another nailbiter 44-38.

Meanwhile, in the U18s games, the Glen Innes Magpies sailed through to defeat Warialda 46-6, while Narwan were too good for the Hawks winning the day 40-14, and in Ladies League tag, Glen Innes thumped Walcha 30-1, the Rams were unable to post a score against the superior Wombats 52-Nil, Narwan made easy work of the Hawks 34-6 while in Tingha, the Ladies celebrated Ladies Day in fashion by not only taking out the Boomerangs 44-6 but also raising $2270 auctioning off a jersey, raising funds for the Breast Cancer Foundation.
