Four teens have been arrested following an investigation into an alleged break and enter and stolen car in the state’s Northern Tablelands under Operation Regional Mongoose.
Between 5pm on Monday 19 August, and 1am on Tuesday 20 August, a white Holden Captiva was reported stolen from a home on Oak Tree Drive, Armidale, with Officers attached to New England Police District commencing an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The vehicle was located abandoned with a book inside on fire on Elizabeth St, Armidale about 1.50am on Tuesday 20th August; Police extinguished to car and seized for forensic examination.
Following inquiries, a 12 yr old boy attended Armidale Police Station and was arrested, however was dealt with under the Young Offenders act and later released.
A 14 yr old boy and two 15 yr old boys were also arrested and charged with aggravated break and enter dwelling in company steal under $60000, steal motor vehicle, dishonestly obtain property by deception, and face blackened/disguised with intent commit indictable offence.
The 3 boys attended a Children’s Court yesterday and were refused bail.
