The Inverell Highlanders Men’s First Grade team have won the Kookaburra Cup after defeating the Scone Brumbies in Central North Rugby competition over the weekend.

The Highlanders trounced the Brumbies with a massive 50-20 win, which has secured the team in the top 4 of the competition, guaranteeing a finals berth, while the Gunnedah Red Devils couldn’t quite topple the Quirindi Lions, going down 19-15 and the Narrabri Blue Boars held off the Pirates 29-25.

Meanwhile in the reserve grade game, the Highlanders failed to score against the Scone team, the Brumbies posting a 28 NIL victory, the Blue Boars overwhelmed by the Pirates outfit 34-20 and the Red Devils defeated by the Lions 36-14.
