Space Camp Arrives In Inverell

by | Jul 30, 2024 | Education | 0 comments

The final frontier has come to Inverell with education organisation One Giant Leap Australia Foundation bringing their Aerospace Camp to town this week.

32 students are taking part in the camp until Thursday at the Inverell RSM Club with participants experiencing all things space and flight with an underlying emphasis on wellbeing and confidence building.

Aerospace Camp is a curriculum based program and it will be offered during school terms.

The hybrid combination of workshops and presentations by various space experts, combined with associated practical, problem-solving scenarios lead to further skill development.

The Foundations Managing Director Jackie Carpenter says the program will include Astronomy and the Australian night sky, Australia’s contributions to space exploration, The Artemis Missions, Habitats on the Moon and Mars, Rockets, Rovers, VR, Drones and Robotics and details about how students can become rocket scientists.

She says during the four-day program, participants will work with and experience technologies such as flight simulators, robotics, drones and virtual reality as well as develop rockets that they will attempt to launch on Thursday morning at 11:30 at Varley Oval.
