A former Gum Flat student has been selected by the Newcastle Knights Reserve grade team to play in the Harvey Norman NSW Women’s Premiership.
Chelsea Lehmann has played in the competition’s opening two rounds applying her trade in the positions of lock and second row.
She was recruited from Lakes United last year where she was captain and will be hoping to advance to the NRLW competition in the not-too-distant future.
The Harvey Norman NSW Women’s Premiership acts as a reserve grade to the NRLW with this year being the first year they have run the competition this way, to align it with the 1st grade competition which kicks off next week
The 24-year-old says it’s been very beneficial for her as it gives Reserve grade players the chance to learn from current NRLW knights players.
Chelsea has been selected to play Lock this weekend when the Knights play Manly at 4 Pines Park in round 3 of the competition with the match acting as a curtain raiser for the NRL game Manly Sea Eagles Vs Gold Coast Titans on Sunday.
