Warialda’s Louisa Gilmour has been named 2026 Community Alumni Champion at the Country Education Foundation Australia Awards at Parliament House in Sydney on Friday
The award celebrates the education and career progress of students and alumni supported by the Foundation.
A filmmaker with a passion for bridging the divide between the country and city, Louisa was celebrated earlier this year when she was crowned the Sydney Royal Ag Shows NSW Young Woman for 2026.
Louisa says it was a bit of a shock and surreal to receive the award but was very honoured adding the Gwydir community has always backed her, adding she’s so grateful to the Foundation for the role they’ve played in helping her get to where she is today
She hopes to use the opportunities she’s been given to help create more opportunities for the next generation of young people from rural communities.
