Inverell Shire Council has approved entering into a five-year lease with BEST Employment Ltd to support the transition of management of the Inverell Homes for the Aged from its long serving committee.
The proposed lease of the Council owned community land was publicly notified and exhibited in accordance with the Local Government Act 1993. No submissions were received during the exhibition period.
The lease will run for a maximum term of five years. Council has authorised the General Manager to execute the Lease and associated Side Deed, subject to any minor changes arising from the final legal review.
The Lease and associated Side Deed include safeguards to ensure operating and reserve funds remain dedicated to the facility. Funds will be quarantined for asset maintenance, repair, renewal and replacement, financial reporting and asset register requirements.
The management transition will allow the facility to continue providing low cost, self-contained accommodation for older people who can live independently but cannot afford home ownership or market rate rental accommodation.
Council acknowledged and commended the Inverell Homes for the Aged Committee for their valuable service and contribution to the community over many years.
