Inverell Shire Council has received a request for financial support from Hunter New England Health to expand the “New England, New You” campaign, which seeks to promote the New England as a destination of choice for doctors, medical training and rural healthcare careers.
The campaign forms part of the health district’s broader strategy to strengthen the medical workforce across the New England Northwest and promote the region as a location where doctors can undertake training, develop their careers and establish themselves and their families on a long-term basis.
Hunter New England Local Health District has advised that the campaign is being undertaken collaboratively with the University of New England Medical School and the Primary Health Network with both organisations contributing $10,000 towards the initiative, in addition to the health district’s investment of resources.
After discussions with District Medical Program Manager Kathy Ingram, a Council contribution of up to $10,000 would be appropriate, aligning Council’s contribution with the financial support provided by the University of New England Medical School and the Primary Health Network.
Council will discuss the matter at today’s Ordinary Meeting.
