A 22-year-old Inverell man is a little out of pocket after being arrested and charged following a police pursuit on Thursday evening in Inverell.
Just after 8:30, police attempted to stop a Nissan utility on Vivian St with the vehicle leading police on a brief pursuit before being terminated due to safety concerns.
Following investigations, the driver was identified and later arrested after leaving a residence in May Street on Saturday.
Police subsequently suspended the man’s licence and was charged with Police pursuit – not stop – drive recklessly and responsible person/custodian does not disclose driver identity
He was bailed to appear at Inverell Local Court on 22 October.
The man was also issued fines of almost $7000 for various motor vehicle infringements.
In a separate incident, police arrested a man driving a Mazda sedan on the Yetman Rd after being stopped on Sunday morning.
Checks conducted revealed the driver’s licence was disqualified and he was issued a Court Attendance Notice to appear at Inverell Local Court at a later date.
