Man Sentenced to Intensive Corrections Order after Involvement in Stabbing Incident

by | Sep 10, 2026 | Crime

A man, involved in a stabbing incident at the Armidale show last year, has been sentenced.

The Northern Daily Leader reports Malekai Landsborough was sentenced to a 1-year intensive corrections order which includes a curfew, ordered to stay away from Armidale and not enter licences premises and will also complete 100 hours of community service.

It follows an incident on March 8 last year where two males, aged 16 and 20 were set upon by a group of men with the 20-year-old being stabbed.

A young person, who cannot be named, was previously sentenced to 15 months in prison for the stabbing.

Landsborough had previously pleaded guilty to charges of three counts of affray and one count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm on the same day co-offenders were sentenced, but a sentencing report was ordered to weigh up options.

Judge Mark Richardson stated in Armidale Local Court on Monday that Landsborough’s offending was linked to alcohol and believed that custody was appropriate but after hearing from Landsborough’s solicitor and the police prosecutor, he avoided further prison time.
