Hope for Hay Fever Sufferers

by | Sep 8, 2026 | Health, Lifestyle, Media Release

With spring in full bloom, millions of Australians are gearing up for hay fever season, but new research suggests the condition can have a bigger impact on everyday life than people realise.

A new survey commissioned by CSL Seqirus reveals the majority (84%) of Australians living with hay fever say it changes their behaviour because of their symptoms.

That includes more than one in four (28%) avoid spending time outdoors, a quarter (25%) lose sleep and nearly one in five (18%) cancel social plans because of hay fever.

With both nose and eyes commonly affected by hay fever, two in three (66%) say hay fever symptoms continue getting in the way of everyday life despite taking medication.

The findings suggest that while nose and eye symptoms are the most common, their impact extends well beyond the physical symptoms, affecting many Australians’ everyday lives.

Australians are being encouraged to review whether their current treatment is working for them and speak with their pharmacist about available options.

Ryaltris Allergy, previously available only by prescription, is now available over the counter through pharmacies, giving Australians another treatment option for managing hay fever symptoms.
